GLS and I-sql

Hi all, I'm a new Informix DBA and I have some problem to understand GLS. We have ONLINE 7.20 on SunSolaris. I'd like to insert in my databases some data with accent characters. I created a database (by default) without set the variables concerning GLS and when I use Isql (QueryLanguage) I cannot insert one row with the accent characters BUT when I insert with Isql (Form) I can insert one row with the accents !!!! After I created a database with set the DB_LOCALE=fr_fr.8859-1 and there I can insert some accent characters using Isql (QueryLanguage). Other things, we have MS-Access and with this tool I can insert some accent characters without problem in one database (through openlink) created simply (by default). Could you tell me if I-Net can give some problem with GLS ? We use I-NET for Windows 5.01. Could we change the code set after the creation of a database (from default to another code set) or must we delete the database and recreate it again ?
