Re: time it takes to establish connection

Sounds like a reverse lookup problem either in your "/etc/hosts" file or with DNS. Try running a tracert from your PC to your HP-UX server and see how many hops there are. You can force a route with the "route" command. Granted, most of my Windows education came on NT 4.0, I believe the commands should still be good. Hope this information helps.
