r4gl reports and stairstepping problem with WORDWRAP

I am trying to create a report with two long varchar fields and a bunch of other fields. I am using wordwrap on the varchar fields, but I am having a problem with stair-stepping. The line starts on line one and then prints a four line varchar field. It then continues printing the rest of the line on line 4. Help. Can this stair stepping be stopped? Thanks for any help.
