Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
We developed applications initially under 4.1 and they have been working
well, but know we are using 5.0 but have not started releasing the product
with the database code compiled under 5.0. I have some data structures
define like so ....
EXEC SQL BEGIN DECLARE SECTION;
idb_testing {
string f1[SIZE1];
string f2[SIZE2];
fixchar f3;
};
EXEC SQL END DECLARE SECTION;
Under Ver 5.00.UD1 I get a compile time warning as follows...
Warning -33208: Runtime error is possible because sizeof
'rec.f3' is unknown.
If one looks at the '.c' output informix build the proper data structures
that do a 'sizeof' to determine the size of the fixchar.
In the past under 4.1 this compiled without warnings. But my initial
attampts at correcting this warning under 5.0 failed. I did not have the
time to chase these problems and thus went back to something that worked
(4.1). To avoid complications I'd like to have something that works on
both 4.1 and 5.0. My first thought are to declare 'f3' as follows ...
fixchar f3[1];
Besides the obvious change of having to use the '&' operator to get the
character in the one character array, could there be other problems with
this.
