Hi,
We are having INFORMIX OnLine Dynamic Server 7.21.UD1 on Sun Solaris
2.5.1. H/W is SUN ULTRA ENTERPRISE 3000. We are using ExaByte 8505XL
(8mm) drive for INFORMIX archive and restore.
UNIX backup on this device works ok. i.e. dd, cpio, tar etc.
As soon as I start using ontape for archive /restore, its starts
malfunctioning. I start getting errors like on restore
: Segmentation Fault
: Physical Restore failed. Func Read archive failed errorcode -1 errno 4
(sometimes 5)
I get this errors on different block sizes.
We are also having 4mm dat drive. INFORMIX archive / restore is
perfectly ok on it.
Now the queries:
1. If you are having similar type of setup, what is your experience?
2. Are there any issues on ExaByte 8505XL?
3. Which firmware are you using for ExaByte?
4. Solaris has built in support for ExaByte( according to
www.exabyte.com). What does that mean? Is that the reason why UNIX
backup is working ok and INFORMIX backup is having problem?
5. Any suggestion?
Charles
