I saw a post here arround 2007 talking about how raw devices where going to be deprecated, about the O_DIRECT flag etc. etc. I also red something about it in wikipedia. What is current situation of raw devices 2016? The asked me if they could start a sds and I need the shared filesystem. They have cooked files and to make a shared filesystem (for free I guess) they told me they can only do it in raw devices. As always thanks in advance.
Raw devices are still supported by Informix and always will be. The issue you remember is that Linux keeps de-supporting RAW devices, but so far every time they remove the support someone puts it back in, so for now even Linux still supports RAW. Art Art S.
