Info about how blobs are written to disk
Posted in 1995
Hi
I have a database that informix can't bring to online. This was a testing
database, so no backup was being done by the time it become damaged. However
it still contains useful data that I like to recover.
The information is still in the raw devices, so I've made a program that
given a dbschema of the database, reads every page in a raw device and try
to find data pages, and then try to figure it out (with the dbshema) of what
table this data page belongs to, and generates files to be processed by dbload.
This program is working ok, however one of the tables of the database contains
blobs. As far as I know, informix writes 56 bytes per blob in the data page;
however I can't find any information of what this bytes means, or how can
I could get a pointer to the blob itself on the raw devices.
I'd like to know if there is any place where I could get this info.
Thanks in advance
