threads + connections (same process)

I've had a problem with a certain database: open two connections within the same process, but different threads (Unix) and try to write to and commit to the same row simultaneously from the two different connections. Not only does table lock not occur correctly, but both threads hang until the process is killed. Does anyone know if all of the informix server versions are correctly tested for use by many different connections within the SAME process? On unix. Thanks Andy andrew.nuss@eng.sun.com

On unix. What development tool / connectivity options are you using - ESQL/C or CLI? What exact version? Have you compiled with the thread safe Informix libraries? Older versions of ESQL/C and CLI had some thread safety issues and/or required the use of DCE threads. The latest versions should work fine with Solaris native threads. -- =============================================================== Chris Jenkins Tel: +44 181 844 3059 (Direct) Informix Software mailto:Chris.Jenkins@informix.com >>> All statements and opinions expressed are entirely my <<< >>> own and may not reflect those of Informix Software <<< ===============================================================
