Informix upgrade 7.30 to 7.31

We are planning to upgrade from Informix 7.30 to 7.31 (I Know!!!). after the upgrade if we encounter any problems and if we need to go back to 7.30, what would be cleanest and quickest way to do it. I would think unload of tables and reinstall on Informix 7.30 and load the tables back. It is possible that some transactions would have been inserted after the 7.31 comes up.We would want to retain the transactions. Also, will the ESQL binaries need a recompile if this upgrade is done.
