Community help on DB import seeked
Posted in 2008
All -
I am running IDS 11.5 on my personal XP box. When using the dbexport
command
I get an export (schema and data files) according to the
documentation.
Now I have been handed another DB export that allegedly has been
created with
the same 'dbexport' command as well. However this export does not
contain
{ unload file name = xxx} clauses in the schema file. More then this
the
data files have an 'unl.a' extension.
Question 1: Is this difference a version or an OS issue? Has the
export been created with
a different command maybe?
Question 2: Is there a difference in behaviour between the load and
the dbimport command when it
comes to loading of data files?
Question 3: Would anybody have a hint on proper settings when it
comes to creating a DB and loading associated data files that
- have all sorts of characters (latin, bulgarian, greek)
- which are properly encoded as UTF-8 within the files
- which need to go to DB CHAR fields?
I have played around for two days now with different locale settings.
Tried many combinations of
DB, SERVER and CLIENT. Nothing seems to work......;-( Especially I
tried combinations that
according to another post work on UNIX...
Thank you very much in advance,
any help appreciated,
Gerrit
