I am
trying to install ICONNECT on a RedHat 8 machine running IDS 2000.
I get an error stating that the install script cannot find the conncontent
file. Any ideas?

Hi,
please consider the following :
-----------------------
rpm on RedHat and $INFORMIXDIR Problem
Trying to install IDS rpm package on RedHat keeps producing the
following message:
ERROR: INFORMIXDIR doesn't match the target directory name
provided in the rpm command ...
This is a known rpm bug in RedHat Linux, see
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=75057
for more information.
The bug should be fixed in rpm-4.2-0.42 .
Solution:
The following workarounds are possible:
1. Using rpm for the installation, the package can only be installed
into
/opt/informix directory. In order to do so you need to set two
environment
variables like this:
export RPM_INSTALL_PREFIX=/opt/informix
export INFORMIXDIR=/opt/informix
2. To install the package into a directory other than /opt/informix ,
you have
to convert the package from rpm format to cpio format:
rpm2cpio IDS.rpm > IDS.cpio
Then install the resulting cpio package the same way as on other
platforms,
i.e. with commands like the following:
cpio -icdumvB < IDS.cpio
installserver

Martin
