I'm only commenting about your request concerning running multiple reports at once. Informix pretty much does just what you asked already. Here is some pseudocode. I left out defining the reports for brevity. START REPORT rpt1 TO "rpt1.rpt" {creates file of length 0 in filesystem} START REPORT rpt2 TO "rpt2.rpt" {creates another} FOREACH something OUTPUT TO rpt1(something) {outputs to temp file} OUTPUT TO rpt2(something) {outputs to another temp file} END FOREACH FINISH REPORT rpt1 {places temp file in the filesystem file} DO SOMETHING ELSE.... FINISH REPORT rpt2 {places another report in the filesystem file} LET prtr_str = "lp rpt1.rpt rpt2.rpt" RUN prtr_str This will let you run multiple reports off the same foreach loops (but can be used in other ways) which can save quite a bit of your processing time.
