After calling Informix, we figured out the problems. However, since we also had problems linking users (dbaccessdemo7 wouldn't run), I can't really tell you what specifically caused the error. We found an amazingly obvious error, due to an NT bug! Do you use the underscore ('_') character in your server name? If so, NT seems to read it as a dash ('-'). Check your DNS setting and TCPIC settings for your server name. Make sure they match your Informix server name. Also, check in the Registry under Local Machine, Software. Make sure all occurances of the server name (host name) are the same. There are several occurances under the Informix categories, as well as the TCPIP category. Under Control Panel, Services: Make sure that the Informix Servers are "Started". This is NOT set automatically. There were a couple of other steps that we had to fix, but they escape me now (excuse me, but it's Sunday and my notes are at the Main office :-}). I'll post the full array of fixes tomorrow.
