Thanks to everyone who responded to my questions on how to fix the problems I've been having with Wingz. In order to fix the problem with always having the print setup dialog box come up each time I want to print, just open a preformatted spreadsheet and put the data into it. I use APPEND "filename" to read in the new data from an existing textfile. Thanks to Adam Green at informix and Raymond Bowers at Computer Sciences Corp for hints on that one. In order to fix the problem where Wingz always wants to print the entire spreadsheet, I found a command called REPORT PRINT RANGE which let me select the area I want to print. This turned out to be more of an rtfm, but it wasn't in the index or anywhere I thought it should be. As far as keeping the DataLink dialog boxes from coming up, I also had another problem. The queries I was using were retrieving a lot of data. I was then using Wingz to summarize it all. Needless to say, the whole thing was very slow. I decided to rewrite all the queries and use ESQL/C to do the hard work and manipulation. Now I just read the summarized data into Wingz, graph it, print it and exit. The user process went from a very tedious multistep routine down to one unix command and one script to run. The whole thing takes less than 1/3 the time it used to. Now the users are ecstatic! Thanks again. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- David Barmann Email: david_barmann@wiltel.com Engineer phone: 314-537-8084
