INFORMIX ANNOUNCES SUPPLY CHAIN SEMINAR SERIES Informix, Benchmarking Partners, Baan, PeopleSoft and SSA Kick off "Mastering the Supply Chain" MENLO PARK, Calif. (April 2, 1996) -- Informix Software, Inc., (NASDAQ: IFMX) today kicked off its 12-city Supply Chain seminar series entitled "Mastering the Supply Chain: Achieving Competitive Advantage and Seizing New Market Opportunities" with partners Baan, PeopleSoft, and SSA and supply chain experts from Boston-based research firm Benchmarking Partners. The seminars will address the evolution of the Supply Chain, the demands for real-time customer information, and key components of successful supply chain information management. Informix partners Baan, PeopleSoft and SSA will discuss key requirements for application infrastructure and present solutions for customer-oriented supply chain systems. The seminars feature Ted Rybeck and Paul de Janosi, executives from Benchmarking Partners, who will demonstrate how organizations can implement a customer-driven strategy to gain market share, achieve measurable return on investment and respond faster to customer and market requirements. "Informix's core database technology and strong partnerships with leading supply chain vendors provide the backbone for supply chain management," said Kevin Hayden, marketing manager for supply chain industries at Informix. "Global organizations need the performance and scalability of a proven database to manage both real-time execution systems and real-time information needs throughout the supply chain." Informix and the Supply Chain The process of buying goods and services, and delivering them to consumers is undergoing a significant paradigm shift. Supply chain strategies are expanding beyond the enterprise to encompass trading partners. What was once a departmental, sequential model is now an integrated global network of concurrent processes. The entire supply chain must respond in concert to the demands for customer-oriented information: what they want, when they want it, how they want it, and where they want it -- by adding value and eliminating waste. Informix's supply chain strategy concentrates on forming non-competitive, strategic partnerships with third party supply chain vendors, hardware companies, and system integrators. These partnerships result in business solutions and third-party products that are completely integrated with the company's technology and responsiveness to emerging requirements, such as the World Wide Web, workflow automation, document management, imaging and multimedia. Informix is the only non-competitive database provider supported by all the major independent supply chain vendors, including Baan, PeopleSoft, SAP, and SSA. Another facet of the company's strategy entails mapping its database technology directly to the mission-critical infrastructure requirements of supply chain industries. Informix excels in delivering the advanced database technologies required to access and manage information throughout the supply chain. These technology advances include parallel data query, data partitioning, multidimensional analysis, and object-oriented data management. Mastering the Supply Chain The Informix Supply Chain seminar will be presented in the following cities: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas, Detroit, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Santa Claire, and Toronto.
