Access Speed with Informix

hi: I have a one gig table sitting on a informix server on a unix box. I linked a table in Ms Access in my Win95. When I did a query on it, it took forever to come back, in fact it never did, Access actually blanked out when the query ran, I got impatient and end the task. Is that normal or am I doing something wrong? The query should have picked up around 10,000 records. Thanks. yan
