problem with DBACCESS on client
Posted in 1994
We are faced with the following problem :
Situation :
- server : Sun SPARCcenter 1000, 8 processors, running OnLine 5.01.UD3 +
I-Star 5.01.UD3 under Solaris 2.2.
- client : Sun SPARCcenter 10/512, 2 processors, running I-Net 5.01.UD2
under Solaris 2.3.
When we run dbaccess on the client, we can obtain a list of available
databases on the server (we have set the environment variable
DBPATH=//server_name in our .profile) but we cannot select any database fromthat list with the highlighted bar. We get the following error message :
"529: Cannot attach to shared memory.",
which is the same we get when we just enter the name of the database at the
"SELECT DATABASE" prompt.
However we *can* select a database by entering its "full" name i.e.
database_name@server_name and everything else works just fine.
Is this a known bug, or did we overlook something?
Any help would be appreciated,
Ria.
