4GL length() core dumping in 7.30.UC5

I just installed sql, 4gl, rds, ids, etc on an HPUX 11 box. I've run into a problem with the 4GL function length() -- it core dumps every time! It doesn't seem to matter what the parameter I pass to it is, if I call length() I core dump. I assume this is a problem with the 4GL component, which is 7.30.UC5. I don't have 24x7 informix tech support otherwise I'd be calling them right now, but I thought I'd see if anyone has run into this problem. Just FYI I'm installing a very large bit of software that has many portions written in 4gl, and of course we use length() calls all over the place. You never realize how often it's used till it stops working :) Also FYI this problem is NOT happening on another hpux 11 box with 4gl 7.30.HC5P1 installed. Anyone seen this? I'm hoping Informix recognizes it off the bat when I call them in the morning... Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/

If you are using the official HP-UX compiler (the one you have to pay for, not the bundled one), here's the 32 bit C compiler flags we're using on a team I'm indirectly supporting (monkey see, monkey do style): +Z -Wl,+s +DS1.1 +DAportable Try patching them into c4gl script on the command line starting $INFORMIXC ... or export them into a $CCOPTS shell variable. No, I don't know what they mean anymore but these and many more are described in excuciating detail in the online manuals of HP. HTH
