Topics: Server Administration
The Greater Boston Chapter of The Data Administration Management Association (DAMA) presents TOM HAUGHEY to speak at a seminar on DATA MODELING FOR DISTRIBUTED DATA The benefits of client-server applications are dependent on databases that are stable, flexible and consistent throughout the organization. These databases must easily support changes in the business and its applications. Success requires good data model design that takes into account the unique issues of distributed data and the constantly changing business needs. The consequences of bad design, such as, poor response times, inconsistent data availablity and inferior data integrity, are multiplied across the entire organization in the distributed environment. This seminar will focus on the special issues in distributed data model design. It will review the primary considerations in distributed data design, the changes that occur in the development life cycle when data distribution is a requirement and a rational approach for the decision making process of whether to distribute data at all. Tom Haughey is one of the four founding fathers of Information Engineering in the United States. Mr. Haughey is currently the president of InfoModel, Inc., a training and consulting company specializing in Information Engineering, Data Modeiling and topics such as distributed data, object oriented ddata medeling and the associated design issues.
