As far as converting, read it into a variable defined as date and 'display' or 'print using'. This interchangeability does not extend to 'datetime'. If you want to do it the hard way, you will probably find out that storing 0 as the date renders 1/1/1900 or something similar. In any event, since days are sequential in nature a pattern will emerge.
