Raw space or cooked files?
It makes a difference with sar statistics. Sar will show idle time when
instead of %wio if the i/o is on raw devices. On cooked files it will show
%wio.
Assuming you are using raw space and you really do have a CPU bottleneck,
what you need to do is identify which user session is hogging all the CPU
resources in the database server. You do this by monitoring the active
queue in Informix using:
onstat -g act
The more users you have, the more complicated it is to sort out who the hog
is.
I've got a script I can send you to monitor onstat -g act and find your CPU
hog. Let me know if you want a copy.
