Does CLOSE DATABASE free all prepared statements?
Posted in 1995
Hi netters, Does CLOSE DATABASE statement (I use 4GL RDS) free all prepared statements? The reason for the question above is the following: I have a 4GL program that works properly: MAIN -- good version PREPARE creat1 FROM "CREATE DATABASE bt1" EXECUTE creat1 FREE creat1 CLOSE DATABASE PREPARE creat2 FROM "CREATE DATABASE bt2" -- <- 2nd prepare EXECUTE creat2 FREE creat2 CLOSE DATABASE END MAIN If I move 2nd prepare statement at the top of the prorgam, I get -410 error (Prepared statement failed or was not executed): MAIN -- bad version PREPARE creat1 FROM "CREATE DATABASE bt1" PREPARE creat2 FROM "CREATE DATABASE bt2" -- <- 2nd prepare EXECUTE creat1 FREE creat1 CLOSE DATABASE EXECUTE creat2 FREE creat2 CLOSE DATABASE END MAIN I've tested the programs above at OnLine5 for AIX, OnLine5 for ISC and got the same results. I've read manuals again but I don't understand my error. Does anybody have hints? Thanks. --------------------------------------------------------------- Andrew Yu.
