I've only worked with v7 and not in cron, but did encounter all sorts of
stty errors by using !echo in my DDL files. Ultimately, we were able to
pipe both Informix messages and our own !echo messages to a single
output file.
Below are some examples of how !echo works in each shell.
Hope this helps you out
Lisa :-)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
To get rid of nasty stty errors do the following:
In the C Shell Environment ...
setenv TERM vt100
setenv INFORMIXTERM termcap setenv TERMCAP $INFORMIXDIR/etc/termcap
% dbaccess dbname file.sql >&logfile
the logfile looks like this:
Database selected.
Dropping table TABLE1
Table dropped.
Creating table TABLE1
Table created.
Creating index IDX_TABLE1
Index created.
Dropping table TABLE2
Table dropped.
Creating table TABLE2
Table created.
Creating table TABLE1 AGAIN to show error messages
310: Table (informix.table1) already exists in database. Error in line40
Near character position 9
Database closed.
In the Korn Shell Environment use ...
setenv TERM vt100
setenv INFORMIXTERM termcap setenv TERMCAP $INFORMIXDIR/etc/termcap
% dbaccess dbname file.sql >>logfile 2>>logfile
In the Bourne Shell Environment ... it doesn't work
The syntax is the same as that for the Korn Shell, however the !echo
messages & Informix' informitional messages overwrite each other. There
is no 'clean' way to do this in the Bourne Shell.
