NewEra 3. Worth the wait?

Here are a few points I have come across while looking at NewEra version 3. Does anyone have any comments? 1. The 3D effect on ixTextBox and ixListBox. I don't like it; it only looks ok if your window's background color is Grey. We have developed, in NewEra 2, our own 3D effect by drawing lines around an object that are slightly darker and slightly lighter than the window's background color (whatever that color is). Now all our programs look tacky due to a horrid Grey shading around visual objects. Can the Informix attempt at shading be turned off? 2. Codewright. I like Codewright as an editor, but it does not appear to be very well integrated with NewEra version 3. Having to call in Codewright to edit your code, then save it in Codewright, then save it in window painter... hardly seamless integration is it? If you only wanted to make a minor change to your code, then it is easier to do so with version 2. Codewright could be setup to compile NewEra 2 programs directly, this ability seems to have been lost with the move to version 3, since you can't pass all the necessary command line parameters to the NewEra 3 compiler. 3. I haven't used OLE before version 3, so I may not be in the best position to comment on the version 3 implementation, but it does seem to be lacking in areas. If you have some text and want to edit it in word then this can be done (as in the example in the sports database). However, the NE application starts up word as a separate application, I though it would be possible to edit the text directly in the NE application, I'm sure I've seen this type of thing done elsewhere. In the sports example; If you find a record with text on it and call word in to edit it, then save it from word back to the application, the text doesn't get displayed correctly in the NewEra window, the lines get truncated. In a large number of areas NewEra 3 doesn't seem to be all that much of an improvement over version 2. In some areas it even seems to be a step back. This product seems to be along way behind other development tools and languages. Where are the GUI trees? The Application Builder uses them, why isn't there a visual class for them? Where are the list boxes with graphical objects in? I want all the goodies that are in the Microsoft AFC classes for Java! When I use version 3 I feel I am working with an "old" windows 3 tool, not a brand new Windows 95/NT tool.
