How to verify Informix restores

I have been asked by my manager how I verify our Informix backups. I take the backup and restore it to our test server, then I verify the row counts on the test server with the row counts on the production server. Thats about it. My manager wants some sort of "Control" report for the "end users." I am curious what everyone else does to test their backups. Thanks Peter
You should be checking the activity logs created both after the backup and restore. Verifying your backup server logs is also a good idea. -----Original Message----- From: ids-bounces@iiug.org [mailto:ids-bounces@iiug.org] On Behalf Of Peter J Diaz de Leon Sent: February 1, 2007 10:17 AM To: ids@iiug.org Subject: How to verify Informix restores [8330] I have been asked by my manager how I verify our Informix backups. Use archecker to verify that the archive tape/file is complete and readable. That's its original purpose. Art S.
