Request for input on IDS V10 Checkpoint Blocking

Has anyone seen a problem with IDS V10 going into checkpoint and not coming out? AIX 5.3 > oslevel -s 5300-06-03-0732 IDS 10.00.FC5 I currently have a case open with support and it has been sent off to development but what I am hearing makes me want to rollback until FC8 is available next year. The problem has not been completely traced but it appears to be in the i/o subsystem. A request for data was placed on the Queue but no reply has either returned or processed. This thread continues to wait holding the checkpoint so nothing else will function. Again this is still in research but with the end of year processing I'm not seeing any options to stay on this version. Because of this and the fact this server is not in Trasacation Logging we lose allot of data if we don't checkpoint. Any Suggestions or Views? Eric B. Rowell
Hi, Eric, Can you provide some more information about the problem: did it happen during a typical DB activity, or you were performing some big operation (big index build, data load, etc)? What Actually, I saw similar problem in the past, and it was related to some OS or hardware problem: the problem was only reproducible on one of two 'similar' machines (the machines were close, but not exactly similar) in a high-availability cluster. Are you using KAIO? If yes, you can try to switch to Informix I/O. In general, Informix I/O is more stable, but might be slower on some platforms, then KAIO -Alexey -----Original Message----- From: ids-bounces@iiug.org [mailto:ids-bounces@iiug.org] On Behalf Of Eric Rowell Sent: Wednesday, November 21, 2007 2:07 PM To: ids@iiug.org Subject: Request for input on IDS V10 Checkpoint Blocking [10443] Has anyone seen a problem with IDS V10 going into checkpoint and not coming out?
