Hi... The only true way you can determine performance of a database is to test the DBMS on YOUR platform with YOUR data at YOUR transaction load. Unless you do this, then you are going to be testing SOMEONE elses data with a load not representative of your situation. This can and probably will get you into a heap of trouble, especially when you need to explain to someone why the 'database is not performing correctly'.
