To make a database with log you should create it with log or after creating change the log status using tbmonitor or tbtape. For first way just run: create database mydb with log OR create database mydb with buffered log OR create database mydb with log mode ansi If you already have the database created, to change it you should make a Level-0 backup, i.e.: tbtape -s -U mydb Of course you could set the TAPEDEV to /dev/null for this operation.
