help with ESQL/C Indicator pointer
Posted in 1994
Hi, I am constructing my own update statements and I cannot find anything in the Informix documentation as to which indicator pointer I should be using. Here is the structure from the header file (sqlda.h) SQL-ONLINE v5.01 ... struct sqlvar_struct { short sqltype; /* variable type */ short sqllen; /* length in bytes */ char *sqldata; /* pointer to data */ short *sqlind; /* pointer to indicator */ char *sqlname; /* variable name */ char *sqlformat; /* reserved for future use */ short sqlitype; /* ind variable type */ short sqlilen; /* ind length in bytes */ char *sqlidata; /* ind data pointer */ }; ... I am currently setting sqlidata to point to a short, one per field, the SQL UPDATE appears to function correctly yet I get an uninitialised memory read from Purify 2.11 (a memory checker). The ESQL/C preprocessor uses sqlidata, yet Mr. Laffer's (spelling ?) SQLCMD code uses sqlind, which is correct ? Thanks for any help. George Long georgel@mindlink.bc.ca
