Recovery from filesbackup

Hi How do i recover (setup) my informix database when i only have the database files from a filebackup ? I need to set it up on a new server. /Thanks

You're going to have o divulge a lot more information before anyone can help. Which Informix database do you have - IDS, XPS, OnLine, SE? What sort of backup is it that you have? Is the new server on the same machine, or a different machine? If different, how different is the hardware, and the o/s? Which version of IDS was the old one running; which version is the new one running? For many Informix instances, if it is down when you made the filesystem backup will the restore work without problems. If not, then you'll need Informix support to dial in and fix things. Even then, it won't be without problems. As the others said, with information on OS type and version, and Informix type and version, we can give you a more detailed answer.
