Dear collegues, IHAC who's having problems trying to connect to an IDS instance on a windows system form another windows client.Windows registry entries(SQLHOSTS) have been checked on boths machines, and everythiong seems ok. These are the details: Error code: -908 Windows version on the server side: 2008 R2 Standard windows version on the client side: xp IDS version: V11.50.TC2E It is an unusual situation since if we make the 2008 R2 Standard the client side and the XP the server side, it works correctly. Any suggestioins on the matter? Thanks a lot, Juan Luis Roca
On the server side run this on a command line: netstat -an Make sure that the Informix engine is listening on a public interface. Also make sure there is no kind of firewall bloking that interface/port. Try to connect with a client local to the server. Regards. -908 error usually means that the user is not recognized by the OS on the server's system. Each user must have a valid login on the server's OS because Informix relies on the OS for user validation. didn't see that happening on my site but if a machine is the domain it could take FQDN of the client and not allowing you to connect (check with/without domain on the failing client or search for documentation about switches like CHECKALLDOMAINSFORUSER
Sorry Art, but that is not correct. 908 usually means the client could not reach the server (either the server is not there, or there is some network problem like routing, firewall etc.). When a user does not exists it's -951. Regards.
