Problems with 64 bit IDS and Omniback II
Posted in 1999
Hi All,
I have recently set up an HP 9000 N4000 HP-UX 11.00 with Informix IDS
7.24.FC1-1 which was immediately upgraded to 7.31FC2-1 after discovering
that 7.24 did not support onbar and variously other problems.
I set up Omniback II version 3.00 to archive the database and had the
following errors in Omniback.
[Normal] From: ob2onbar.exe@brlapa1 "brlapa1_shm" Time: 08/04/99 20:52:01
Starting ON-Bar with the following arguments:
-b -L 0
[Major] From: ob2onbar.exe@brlapa1 "brlapa1_shm" Time: 08/04/99 20:52:01
ON-Bar backup failed with exit status 139.
ON-Bar error: XBSA version number not in bar_version table.
For details see Informix ON-Bar log
(/usr/informix/logs/bar_act_live.log) on host brlapa1,
Informix OnLine log (/usr/informix/logs/online_live.log) on host
brlapa1 and
/var/opt/omni/log/informix.log files on host brlapa1.
and the these errors in my onbar log
1999-08-04 20:52:01 23728 23727 /usr/informix/bin/onbar_d -b -L 0
1999-08-04 20:52:01 23728 23727 ERROR: An unexpected error occurred: .

library is not compatible with version 1 o
f ON-Bar.
After several conversations with Informix support I was no further and ended
up talking to the HP omniback team in Atlanta who have told me that Omniback
does not support 64 bit database ports and there is no immediately plans to
do so.
Has anyone else any experience with the set up.
We also have various other problems with 7.31FC2-1. Onmonitor cannot be
used to initialise the database as -1s appear in many of trhe fields during
setup and cannot be removed. Onprobe / oncockpit are not provided, onperf
is not supported.
