Inf7 vs Inf9 License

Hi I would like to clarify something that I am not to sure about. As I understand the major change in the Licensing when IBM took over was the shift from user base license to session base license. * Informix 7.x (and before) - User based License * Informix 9.x (and after) - Session based License If this is correct, does it mean that with Informix7.x if the same user (application) make two connections to the database it is legal? Regards David Reed

But as far as I remember IDS was always licensed on a session based scheme or on CPU based scheme. User based license may be used for some express edition. I think express was made available after the acquisition and maybe it's this what is causing you some confusion.
