Another option is perl cgi programs -- you can use either the shareware DBI version or the Vortex licensed version (www.trifox.com). We use Informix for our on-line database -- the bulk of the access is through C++ code using ODBC, but a portion of our site accesses the engine using perl/cgi code using the Vortex product to connect.
