Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

This is for all the HP users of Informix version 6 or greater. If you
don't already know (like I didn't) the number of virtual shared memory
segments your config access must be 2 (TWO!) or less or it will *GREATLY*
affect the performance of the server. This problem is fairly specific
to the HP machines.
To find out how many virtual segments the config is accessing, set the
environment to the config and run:
onstat -g seg
Count the number of lines that have a V in the Class column. If this is
more than two, you can greatly improve the performance of the system by
increasing the SHMVIRTSIZE so that no additional virtual memory segments
are required at start up. You also want to make SHMADD large so that if
it does have to add memory it will only have to do it once.
We made these changes to two of our configs that had more than 2 virtual
segments of memory, and the performance time improved 300% and 500% for
the two different user groups involved. It's REALLY COOL!
