Directory Feature for Ontape Backup

Hello,
IDS 11.10 FC2W3 on solaris 10
I am using the Directory feature of my ontape backup.
I faced a issue while restoring the ontape backup from one machine to another
machine due to directory restrictions and got advices for using the Mount and
mount the remote directory on the local server where the restoration is to be
carried out.
But Mount is not allowed, instead i have a NAS share now to work with.
I have set the ONTAPE to the NAS share path and i guess it works but there is
another problem, If i start the resotration from server test1 ( the actual
level 0 is on prod1)using the directory feature then it serches for the
test1_1_L0 file in the shraed path(which is not there),where as i want it to
restore the prod1_1_L0 file( only file avail in that path).
I understand that this behaviour is a design aspect and test1 server will
serch for test1_1_L0 and not any thing that is present in the shared directory
I know there are some options for modifying the backup file name created with
the ontape backup when using directory feature.
but not sure if it would be better to keep a generic name for my prod backup.
For now i have just changed the backup file name and started the restoration
but dont think that a good idea.
Any sugessions would help me.

Hi,
you can use environment variable IFX_ONTAPE_FILE_PREFIX
for the restore on the test machine. I.e. set this to "prod1_1".

Martin

Think outside the box. Just create links to the test1* files that begin
'prod1'.
