Like helping put together the SQL Server course at UW too? You betcha. Why? Student demand. I am the scariest thing in the world because I am not paid one dollar by IBM or Oracle or Sybase or Micrsoft. I have what is called academic freedom and can not be constrained by threat by employer or requirement to go along with marketing-speak. Freedom of speech of a very scary thing. No question about it. Of course you could be scared by the fact that no one 19-30 has any interest in Informix but then that would require you facing the awful facts as brought up in this forum by Double Echo and others. Ouch! But this thread, at least from the standpoint of my contribution, has reached a point of no return so I'll no longer add to the misery. -- Daniel A. That'll be the day. -- Bye now, Obnoxio "Jesus you fucking people are hopeless." -- Double Anal "C'est pas parce qu'on n'a rien ' dire qu'il faut fermer sa gueule" - Coluche did i mention i like nulls? heck, i even go so far as to say that all columns in a table except the primary key could/should be nullable. this has certain advantages, for example, if you need to insert a child record and you don't have a parent row for it, just do an insert into the parent table with the primary key value (everything else null), and voila, relational integrity is preserved. but this is, admittedly, a bit controversial among modellers. --r937, dbforums.com
