Informix does not :support I-NET :for Windows running on Window NT, yet have said I-NET will work on :Windows NT. 1. I think our version of Impromptu is 32 bit. We run it on Windows 95 with an early version of I-Net for NT (part of ESQL/C for NT). The 32 bit version (if truly available) is the only sensible thing to run on NT 4.0 2. See 1. We have I-Net for NT and it's supported. Of course you want the 16 bit version which means you have to run I-Net for Windows 3.x and I can understand that's not supported on NT. On the other hand Informix here in Norway do support all products they say will work. They have allways given us excelent support on I-Net for NT running on Windows 95 and other combinations that are not "officially" supported. Anything else would be unaceptable here. Of course you have to understand the support can only go as far as trying to get things to work. If it doesn't work they can't possibly be expected to make it work (fix code), but only tell you what version you need to buy/upgrade to. :The error message is Informix number -932: :A general exception has occurred during operation 'attach database'. :Error on network connection, unknown connection problem system call :failed. 932 is the standard message for a lot of connectivity problems. :I can connect and attach to the database through DBACCESS on the server. : :I can ping the host and have added the INFORMIXDIR variable and :C:\\INFORMIX :to the path in Windows NT. The service name and host name on client and :server are ok In what files on NT. The Windows 3.x version may not know to look in the right files. They may have to be located in some other directory than the normal one for NT 4.0. :Client Config :Informix-Net 5.01 :Informix-CLI 2.50 :Q+E ODBC (16 bit Driver 2.5 QEINF509.DLL) :Protocol - Windows Sockets (winsock.dll) : :Server :Online ODS 7.2 :AIX : :ANY help would be greatly appreciated!! Another better option than figting with I-Net might be to run the whole thing via ODBC and get a real ODBC driver (one that doesn't use I-Net). Of course if you continue to use the 16 bit version of Impromptu even the ODBC driver will probably have to be 16 bit, and you may still get into trouble.
