Multi-volume Ontape backup

Hi there, Informix gurus!
Here is my problem: I have just reached the capacity of my tape drive while
backing up my IDS instance. Up to this point, the instance would fit on a
single tape.
I have picked up the "auto_ontape" script found on iiug.org site. I thought
this would resolve my problem but unfortunately, I can't seem to get it going.
My platform is : IBM RS6000 model J40
AIX 4.3.2
IDS 7.22.UC1
IBM 7331 Tape Library
I use IBM's "tapecntl" (an "mt" equivalent)command to manipulate tapes within
the library.
I am hoping not to have to use something else than ontape for the time being.
Perhaps some of you gurus will already have faced and overcome this problem.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Daniel,
I've sent you my script. Give it a go.

Jon, submit that script to the IIUG Repository so everyone can get it
without bothering you and then you too can reply to dozens of messages,
as I do, with "just get my package..." ;-)
Just email a shell archive of the script and a README.1st file (and
anything else you thing might be useful) as an attachment to
software@iiug.org and ask that the package be added to the Repository.

Good idea, I will do. It's in need of some, er, tidying up first, though :) Jon. > Jon, submit that script to the IIUG Repository so everyone can get it > without bothering you and then you too can reply to dozens of messages, > as I do, with "just get my package..." ;-) > > Just email a shell archive of the script and a README.1st file (and > anything else you thing might be useful) as an attachment to > software@iiug.org and ask that the package be added to the Repository. > > Art S.
