I believe this is the version number that netx displays when it is started. (It is usually started from autoexec.bat or some other .bat file started from autoexec.bat) If you don't see it when the PC is booted, simply type netx at the C:\\> prompt. This also of course requires that your Unix has IPX/SPX, that Informix supports it on this Unix, and that you have set it all up correctly. > > Can I copy a winsock.dll from some other environment? Would that work? No. winsock.dll is the interface between the windows socket standard and the particular TCP/IP you have on your machine. You have to make sure the winsock.dll is for exactly this TCP/IP, including for the right version number. You also must make sure it is a reasonably new winsock.dll (ver. 1.1 or newer). > > What other options do I have? VisionWare (an SCO company), OpenLink and I belive also TechGnosis, has ODBC drivers that use neither I-Star on the server nor I-Net on the PC and claims to provide higher performance than those who do. Informix's lates product is Informix-CLI which includes I-Net and a new ODBC-driver from Visigenics. This also requires winsock.dll on your PCs.
