"So why do you need the logical log backups to restore your backup server ? " Because in case the server goes down in the middle of the day. If the Production Server goes down at 12 noon, I'll have the last logical log entry that was written to prior to the crash. If I did just a level0 and the system crashed at 12 noon. I only have last night's backup tape to go off of....hope that makes sense. <snipped> Um... Have you looked at High-availability Data Replication (HDR)?? It is already included with IDS (i.e., it's "free"), and it was made to exactly address your situation. It really is quite painless to set up and administer. It would have the added advantage that your backup server would always be an up-to-date copy of your main server. I suggest that you take a good look at the two chapters on HDR in the very fine Admin Guide. It could save you a lot of script-writing time, and a lot of debugging headaches. :-) HTH, Paul Mosser
