Externals with HSTools1.0 (Windows)

I tried to build the examples (use of externals) from the HSTools distribution using visualC++ 1.0 but the dll's doesn't work (No memory available for this environment)(launch example). When i use the dll's supplied by Informix all is fine. I think there is a bug in the msc8.bat (compiler options ?) or is msc8 not identical to visualC++ 1.0 ????
