Yes, Informix is outstanding in pioneer technology like XPS. About the datawarehouse, just forget the Oracle Express server. It is too lag before the Informix Metacube. Metacube is good stuff! On the Internet solution side, Informix lag behind other vendors. After it acquire the Illustrator. Internet product seems to stay at the same step for years. Also e-commerce is the big problem. Though they annouce the I.Sell. I am quite conservative on this product after the trap of I.Reach. It is just a marketing name. In software business, Technology and business sense are two major success factors. In my opions, Informix is too concentrate on tech but less on marketing (also product packaging). Oracle is not very high tech.. However he target the majority of IT market. They package the product to please the majority. It is same successful factors with Microsoft. I feel sad on the Informix. Most vendors deals it as second line or third line partner in Asia because they are too silence on market. Every survived database should have some good points. The most important is if it is suitable for your project requirment.
