Re: Constraints

Hi Peter, I have been doing a database application on Informix 4.1 in 4gl. As Cheryl mentionned, you have to put the rules for RI into your application code, if you have no constraints (referential ones in this case). We upgraded to 6.0 and now up to 7.11 with Constraints available. For my part I didn't hesitate using them. The benefits of constraints and stored procedures are: - Less Code in your Client to check RI and values. - The Client just needs to react on error-events. - Most of the Rules are now stored ONCE on the server. Doesn't that make development easier? If you need examples or have further question, feel free to write me an e-mail. Sincerely, Roland Peter Wages wrote: > > Having an argument with our DBA .
