Q about locale with SE
Posted in 1999
Hi,
we are using SE 7.22 UC2 on SCO UnixWare 7.0.1 and NewEra 3.11 on client
side.
We first develloped in the local environment and everything was fine,
but as we changed to server environment,
We have noticed a weird situation when using the german letters like
ä,ö,ü etc.:
These characters are stored correctly in the database, but when they
occur within SQL-statements an illegal character error occurs; same
reaction either in explicit or implicit (via supertables) statements.
Our locale environment is (both local and server)
CLIENT_LOCALE=de_de.1252
DB_LOCALE=en_us.819DBLANG=de_de.1252
What is the reason that iConnect hat a different behaviour when using
sesoctcp and seipcpip?
Is it possible that iConnect uses only an 7bit encoding within
SQL-statements when using sockets?
Has anybody noticed something like this?
