HP compression tape drives

We have several customers running HP 9000/8xx series machines that are using HP DAT drives with compression for archives. In a recent case in with Informix Tech Support, the engineer mentioned in passing that this compression is not supported by Informix because it can interfere with Informix's internal compression during an archive. We have several customer sites who are set up to use compression, using the device entry /dev/rmt/0hc as the device for Informix archives. Is this supported by Informix, or can someone at least tell me if they are doing this and have successfully restored from an archive with this device?
