I have wanted to see User definable Data Types since whenever. The current issue of SOFTWARE magazine has an article about all the RDBMS vendors clammering for Objects. In it it describes a "Controlled Release" in Q496 (for datablade developers) and a "Functional[sp] Release" in Q197, I can live with that. Q496 is very aggressive. Mike S. might be talking about a ODBC so that applications can be written now, in Informix 4GL, that links with Illustra transparently. This will make conversion to Informix Universal Server as seamless as possible. Or maybe the Controlled release. Any ways I can't wait. P.S. This was interesting too - I don't have the article handy but they also hint about the name Universal Server: "...suddenly popular... oracle claims to have it copyrighted" P.P.S. Anyone heard? How does NewEra Fit into all this? It seems to me to be a match made in DBS heaven. -- John Regep, || _______ || ZenaComp, Incorporated Information Consultant || -----/ / || 17187 N.Laurel Park Dr. #351 jregep@zenacomp.com || / /______ || Livonia, Michigan 48152 1-(313)-464-3700 || -------- || FAX (313)-464-3730 http://www.zenacomp.com/~zenacomp
