Questions about FET_BUF_SIZE

I'm looking at changing FET_BUF_SIZE beyond the default setting and wondering if anybody has any experience on the pros/cons of this beyond it increasing long batch FETCHes (the reason I'm interested in changing it)

Big help with large return sets.
