How to speed up the target in an Enterprise Replic

Hello, We have a primary/target ER system. I know how to improve that system on the primary but not on the target. If the evaluation is fast on the primary but the acknowledge slow from the target, what should I check ? - not talking about the network performance - I don't see any usefull CDR* parameters for the target, and nothing in the documentation about this. I noticed that a stop/start of the Informix target instance usually speeds up the acknowledge. Any experience or idea about this ?
