Strange 4GL program behavior
Posted in 1993
I have a 4GL program running as a background process -- It's accepting data from work tables and doing background updates. We were watching the program yesterday afternoon and it was doing this: Step 1: fglgo pathname/foo.4go (Looking at the output of ps, the state was running and it was using 20% CPU) Step 2: fglgo pathname/foo.4go fglgo pathname/foo.4go (a few seconds later, it appears to spawn a process that looks exactly like the original -- The time, the CPU% are the same, but the state is intermediate) Step 3: fglgo pathname/foo.4go (The intermediate process goes defunct) Step 4: The cycle repeats This was observed on an IBM RS/6000, Model 580 running OnLine 5.0 -- Any guesses what we were seeing?... -- Clay Irving N2VKG | See the happy moron New York, New York | He doesn't give a damn. clay@panix.com (personal) | I wish I were a moron clay@garpac.com (work) | Oh God! Perhaps I am!
